Nana Yaw Amponsah, a former CEO of Asante Kotoko, has stepped into a new role as the president of FC Petrocub Hîncești in Moldova. This marks a significant development in his career in football administration.
His appointment comes after a partnership agreement was formalized, taking over from Mikhail Usatîi in the position. Petrocub, also known as The White-Blacks or The Hincesti Lions, was founded in 1994 and competes in the Moldovan Super Liga. They play their home matches at the Municipal Stadium in Hincesti.
In the previous season, Petrocub achieved an impressive second place in the eight-club league, with Marius Iosipoi emerging as the third-highest goalscorer. The influence of Nana Yaw Amponsah is already evident, as former Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalora made a strategic move to Petrocub from Sheriff Tiraspol, indicating an impact on player transfers.
Currently, Petrocub holds the second position in the Moldovan league standings with 28 points, trailing six points behind the league leaders, Sheriff.
