Abedi Ayew Pele
The Ghana legend cut his professional football umbilical cord at Al Sadd when he took the Qatari topflight by storm as a 17-year- old boy during the 1982/83 season.
Abedi netted seven goals in eight games in his only season at Al Sadd before departing for FC Zurich to start his European adventure though Al Sadd wanted to keep him with a mouthwatering extension offer.
Eric Gawu
The onetime most fearful striker in the Ghana Premier League spent the 2006-2007 season on loan at Al Sadd from Accra Hearts of Oak and banged in seven goals in 19 games. Al Sadd were said to be keen on keeping him but Hearts of Oak rejected the deal and he returned back to Ghana.
Opoku Agyemang
The talented forward joined Al Sadd from CS Sfaxien for $800,000 in 2008 and quickly established himself as a key component in the club’s attack.
He netted 13 goals in 20 League appearances before injuries started to set in. He left Al Sadd in 2012.
Mohammed Kasola
The Madina Zongo born central defender is among Al Sadd greatest players of all time. Despite being born in Ghana, Kasola decided to represent Qatar in 2010 and is one of their most celebrated players.
At club level, he spent eight years at Al Sadd (2010 to 2018) where he made 125 Qatari Stars League appearances in Al Sadd jersey scoring ten goals. He is considered as the club’s best centre-back of all time.
Quincy Owusu- Abeyie
He joined Al Sadd from Spartak Moscow for a fee of $2 Million but could hardly find his feet in the Qatari League. He was shipped on loan to Malaga before later joining Panathinaikos in 2012.
