In this article, we will be looking at Ghanaian footballers currently playing in Europe.
Daniel Amartey
First on the list, representing his country Ghana is a 25-year-old professional footballer who can be deployed as a right-back, center-back, and also in the defensive midfielder position.
Daniel Amartey, who was born in Accra, Ghana on the 21st of December, began his footballing career with his hometown club International Allies before moving away from his country to Sweden to join Djurgardens IF in the same year.
In the summer of 2014, Danish club, F.C Copenhagen was reported to have paid a fee worth €2.2 million for the Ghanaian footballer to complete his move from the Swedish club.
In his first season in Denmark, Amartey helped the Danish club lift the Danish Cup. And in his second successive campaign with the club, he was able to help them complete a domestic double after winning the Danish Superliga and Cup in the same season.
In his second season with the club, the Ghana international moved to Premier League team Leicester City in a fee worth £6 million during the winter transfer window back in 2016. Just like his first successive campaign with Copenhagen, he helped the Foxes win a trophy but this time, it wasn’t a Cup but instead the English Premier League, which was no easy feat.
Although he didn’t start as a first-team player with the Foxes, after the club parted ways with N’Golo Kante in the summer, Amartey was promoted to the starting eleven of the team in his second season.
Back in October 2018, Amartey was sidelined for an ankle injury that ruled him out of season after being carried out of a match against West Ham, with the shots on target tips, several fans were able to increase their earning on the bet. Ever since the Ghana international has yet to return to first-team football.
Kwadwo Asamoah
Second on the list is a 31-year-old midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah, who began his football career in his hometown before joining up Swiss club Bellinzona, which resulted in a loan to Torino during the winter transfer window in 2008.
After impressing in the Torino team for the remainder of the season, he was later signed to Udinese during the summer of that same year. The Ghana international spent four seasons, displaying impressive performances with it, unfortunately, he was unable to back it up with trophies before leaving to join Italian giants Juventus in the summer of 2012.
The 31-year-old midfielder, under Antonio Conte, had no problems adapting to life with Juventus as a player. With Conte as a manager, Asamoah was deployed as either a midfielder or a left-back.
He was able to quickly integrate himself into the Bianconeris’ team and was also pivotal in helping them win the Serie A and Supercoppa Italiana in his first season.
After spending six campaigns with the Old Lady outfit, his trophy cabinet included seven Serie A titles, four Copa Italia and three Italian Super Cup before leaving the club in the summer of 2018 to join their immediate rival Inter Milan, who helped win a Champions League spot in his first season. He has been with the club ever since.
Thomas Partey
The name, Thomas Partey is a name every La Liga fan knows with no doubt. He is a 27-year-old Ghanaian footballer; he currently plays for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.
He was reported to have signed a contract with the Spanish giants back in 2011, but was moved to the development team a year later before being called up to the first team in March 2013 but was an unused substitute for the match.
Before establishing himself in the Madrid team, he was sent out on loan to RCD Mallorca and Almeria for a full campaign each.
He was fully integrated to the team in the 2015/16 campaign and ever since Partey has been instrumental for the Spanish club helping them lift UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.
