Black Queens forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has described an emotional and historic experience after making her debut for Ghana in an international friendly against England on Tuesday evening at St Mary’s Stadium.
Born in the United Kingdom, Boye-Hlorkah previously represented England at youth level before choosing to switch allegiance to Ghana, the country of her father. The match marked her first opportunity to wear the Black Queens jersey against her birth nation.
For the Nottingham Forest star, it was a moment filled with pride and emotion. Reflecting on the occasion, she shared on social media:

Despite her historic appearance, Ghana fell 2-0 to the Lionesses, with goals from Lucia Kendall and Alessia Russo deciding the contest.
Looking ahead, Boye-Hlorkah will focus on helping Ghana secure success at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and on the journey toward qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
