Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper and captain, Frederick Asare, has officially parted ways with the club after three impactful seasons, marking the end of a significant chapter in his career.
The goalkeeper, who joined the Porcupine Warriors as a young prospect, leaves having developed into a respected leader and champion.
In a heartfelt message shared with the club and its fans, Asare expressed his deep gratitude and pride in having worn the red jersey and captained the side to glory.
“From the depth of my heart, I say a very big THANK YOU to His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the management, teammates, and of course, the amazing supporters of this GREAT CLUB,” he wrote.
“I came here as a young boy, but after 3 wonderful years, this club has transformed me into a warrior.”
Asare’s time at Kotoko culminated in a proud moment earlier this year when he captained the team to lift the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup title, a feat he says will forever remain one of the greatest honours of his career.
“The honour of wearing the armband of this great club and leading the team to lift this year’s FA Cup is a memory that will live with me forever.”

Asare leaves behind a legacy of leadership, resilience, and dedication, earning the admiration of both fans and teammates during his time in Kumasi. Though his next move is yet to be officially confirmed, he is expected to attract attention from several clubs in Ghana and abroad.
The club is yet to announce his replacement as captain ahead of the 2025/26 season, where Kotoko will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup following their FA Cup triumph.
