Ex-Bafana Bafana guardsman Edward Motale insists there is no sense in appointing Hugo Broos as the South African national team coach.
Motale stressed that the appointment was a waste as the Belgian tactician has no credentials to lead the Bafana Bafana to glory.
“Then for me it’s a wasteful exercise.” Motale told KickOff.com.
“We could have just taken anybody here at home and made him a Bafana coach. The way they praise his CV saying he’s an expert, is a what – what, he has won what…so let him show us. So if we hire somebody with ‘Either/Or’, then it’s a wasteful exercise. Then they can even hire me and choose my assistant and go to coach Bafana Bafana.
“I think I can even do better. Because now he’s giving me a sign that he’s not gonna do anything for our country. If you gonna hire somebody who doesn’t have goals, that for me it’s a problem.
“But it’s better if a coach comes here and say ‘Look, I’ve only got three weeks to do this job, but I’m gonna do my level best.’ But if they are telling me I’m gonna fight Mike Tyson and I say ‘No this guy is going to give me a hiding’, as a supporter I might as well not buy a ticket for the game. So for me it’s a wasteful exercise. Meaning they are just taking South Africans for a ride.” He added.
South Africa have been paired in the same Group with Ghana, Ethiopia and Mozambique for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers which begins later this year.
