Basake Holy Stars will look to extend their strong home form when they welcome relegation-threatened Legon Cities to the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena on Sunday in a Premier League showdown on Sunday.
The Aiyinase-based side continued their impressive run at home with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Vision FC on Wednesday. Despite their recent struggles on the road, that win marked their eighth home triumph of the campaign. Currently 12th on the league table with 33 points, Abdul Gazale’s men have proven dangerous in attack, having scored 29 goals—third highest in the league—while also conceding 29. Ranked as the seventh best home side, the Holy Stars will be eager to capitalize on home advantage once again and push further up the standings.
Legon Cities find themselves in dire straits. The Royals are entrenched in the relegation zone at 17th with 25 points from 27 matches. Their recent form offers little encouragement, managing just one win in their last five matches (D1, L3). Worryingly, they’ve conceded a league-high 36 goals while scoring just 21.
Their away record is even more alarming. Legon Cities remain the only team in the league yet to register a single win on the road this season, picking up just two points from 13 away games (D2, L11). As the second worst-performing away team, their task on Sunday appears daunting.
