Ghanaian footballers Kamaldeen Sulemana and Salisu Mohammed have experienced relegation with Southampton from the Premier League.
On Saturday afternoon, the Saints were defeated at home by Fulham. Southampton, despite sitting at the bottom of the league table with 24 points, needed a victory to maintain their hopes of survival.
Unfortunately, goals from Carlos Vinicius and Aleksandar Mitrović sealed the win for Marco Silva’s Fulham side.
Salisu, aged 24, joined Southampton from Real Valladolid during the summer transfer window of 2020 and has since become an important player for the team. However, injuries this season have caused him to miss a significant number of matches.
On the other hand, Sulemana only recently joined Southampton in the winter transfer window. He was recruited from Stade Rennes to bolster the Saints’ squad in their efforts to avoid relegation. Despite his positive contributions, Southampton was unable to make a substantial difference.
As a result of their relegation from the Premier League, both players will compete in the English Skybet Championship next season.
Southampton will conclude their campaign with matches against Brighton and Liverpool.
