Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo expressed disappointment after AFC Bournemouth’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the English Premier League on Tuesday night.
Despite his brilliant performance, including scoring a stunning goal and winning a crucial penalty, Semenyo believed his side deserved all three points at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking in a post-match interview, the striker praised his teammates for their determined display but lamented missed opportunities. “We defended for our lives at times and I feel that we should have got three points,” Semenyo said. “At half-time, the manager wasn’t happy! He livened us up, we needed to get our press right, and we did that from the get-go in the second half.”
He also highlighted the team’s resilience throughout the season, attributing their ability to secure points to their collective effort and determination. “That resilience and determination is how we’ve got our points this season. We all work for each other and that’s what we’re about—we’re resilient. I think we should have got something from the home game against Chelsea, and we could’ve got three points here, but we take the point and move onto the next one,” he added.
Semenyo has been in stellar form this season, contributing six goals and two assists in 20 Premier League appearances. His performances have been vital for Bournemouth as they navigate the challenging campaign.
The Black Stars attacker is now just two goals away from equaling his league tally from last season, underlining his continued growth and importance to the team.
