English Championship side Coventry City have appointed Chelsea legend Frank Lampard as their new head coach for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The Sky Blues parted ways with former manager Mark Robins several weeks ago after a disappointing start to the campaign. Robins, who had been in charge for seven years, oversaw a run of just four wins, five draws, and eight losses from the first 17 league games, leaving Coventry in 17th position with 17 points.
Lampard, who returns to management after a brief stint at Chelsea, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at the club until the winter of 2027. He will be tasked with turning around Coventry’s fortunes and guiding them up the table.
Brandon Thomas-Asante, who has contributed a goal and an assist in 16 appearances this season, will be hoping to see more playing time under Lampard’s leadership and improve his statistics.
Lampard’s first match in charge will be against Cardiff City at the Building Society Arena on Saturday, November 30, 2025, with kick-off at 15:00 GMT.
