Ghanaian trio Ablade, Ameyaw & Opoku get one-year contract extension at Fulham

English Championship side Fulham FC have handed one-year contract extensions to Ghanaian trio Eric Ameyaw, Terry Ablade and Jerome Opoku.

The three players have been offered another one-year deal to showcase their talents for the 2021/22 season with the club.

1. Terry Ablade

The promising attacker signed a two year scholarship deal with Fulham on 1 July 2018 and joined up with the U18 squad.

In his first season with the club, he scored 7 goals in 19 league games before a return of 5 goals in 20 league games the following season.

After excelling at the U18 team in 2019-20, Terry was promoted to the U23’s ahead of the 2020-21 season.

He made his professional debut on 8 September 2020 as he played in an EFL Trophy fixture against Cambridge United.

Ablade, 19, was born in Ghana and emigrated to Finland with his family when he was young. He played for FC Jazz until his move to England.

Despite representing Finland at the U16, U17, U18 and U19 sides, the youngster is still eligible to feature for Ghana.

He made 11 caps for Fulham U23 side in the just ended season where he scored once.

2. Eric Ameyaw

Ameyaw was born in United States to Ghanaian parents but moved to Italy at a young age. He played for AC Gavardo, a club in Brescia, Lombardy. He later moved to England, where he was initially a midfield player, playing for local clubs in the Milton Keynes area.

In 2017, Eric was signed by Northampton Town and he joined their academy where he moved back into defence as a centre back. In 2020, he joined Dunstable Town who were playing in the ninth tier of English football.

Following a successful trial spell in August 2020, Eric signed for Fulham the following month and joined up with the U23 squad, making his debut in the first league match of the 2020-21 season in a 4-0 victory away at Reading U23.

Unfortunately, one two months into his Fulham career, Eric sustained a bad knee injury which needed surgery and kept him out for the rest of the season. Ameyaw made only six appearances for Fulham U23 side.

3. Jerome Opoku

The 22-year old promising defender after an impressive loan season with League One side Plymouth Argyle F.C, has also been offered a one year contract extension by his parent club. Opoku who was born in Lambeth, England to Ghanaian parents, played 33 games for Plymouth Argyle F.C and scored one goal to his name.
