Al Hilal’s Ghanaian striker, Abednego Kofi Tetteh has ruled out playing for the Sudanese National Team after declining an approached by Sudan’s football governing body’s bid to facilitate a nationality switch for him.
Reports emerging from Sudan indicate that, the Sudan FA has contacted the highly rated goal poacher over a switch to represent the Falcons of Jediane following his remarkable performances in the Sudanese top flight league.
Dspite Tetteh’s rich vein of form in front of goal, the former Bechem United forward was snubbed by Coach Kwesi Appiah for the Black Stars 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier as well as the double-header international friendlies against Mexico and U S A.
But that notwithstanding, Tetteh still remains focus on his career as he continue to wait on a lifelong dream of playing for the Black Stars.
According to him, he has turned down an offer to play for the Sudanese because he doesn’t understand their culture and cannot recite their national anthem.
“Sudan wanted me to naturalize for them, but I rejected, I’m from Ghana so why should I naturalize for other country and even if I don’t play for my country”, Tetteh was quoted to have said.
“I will not play for Sudan because I don’t know their culture and can’t even recite their national anthem so why should I naturalize for them only to play for the national team.
“If I even do that, then have betrayed the entire nation (Ghana)
“I know in due course of time, I will also be called to the national team.’’ He added.
Abednego Tetteh has has scored 14 goals for Al Hilal in the Sudanese league as an MTN FA Cup winner with Bechem United at the end of last season.
