Former Ghana defender Sam ‘Foyoo’ Johnson has urged the country’s football governing body – GFA to give legendary striker Asamoah Gyan an appreciable send-off he decides to finally hangs his boots.
The 45-year-old, who played for Ghana Premier League club Hearts of Oak, and perhaps best known for his time in Turkey with Fenerbahce, says Gyan has wholeheartedly served the West African powerhouse and deserves to be appreciated extremely when he retires.
Asamoah Gyan, 33, is Ghana’s all-time leading top scorer with 51 international goals.
He’s also African’s leading top scorer with six goals in three FIFA World Cup tournaments.
Gyan left Dansoman side Liberty Professionals for Italian Serie A side Udinese in 2003. He has gone on to represent Modena, Stade Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG, Al Ahli Dubai and Kayserispor.
The former Sunderland striker is currently on the hunt for a new club following a temporary contract with Indian outfit NorthEast United which ended in January.
