Goal Drought Yacouba Facing Quality Opponents Than Before- Frimpong Manso

Former Kotoko head coach, Frimpong Manso, has highlighted the reason for  Sogne Yacouba’s goal drought, insisting the porcupine’s  forward is now facing credible  opposing teams  than before.

The lethal forward was very impressive in his few outings in the abruptly ended 2017/18 Ghana Premier league season and some few friendly games scoring incredible goals for the Porcupine’s under Paa Kwesi Fabin.

However, Yacouba’s inability to score in some three consecutive games under new manager C.K. Akunnor, has got the support base of the team and the media talking.

Comparison between the two trainers  Yacouba has had since joining Kotoko in  mid-2018 has become a very popular feature in any media discussion as many believe, former gaffer, Paa Kwesi Fabin got the best out of the forward than the current manager, Charles Kwablan Akunnor.

Contributing to a radio discourse on the promising attacker’s recent woes, Frimpong, who is a former player of the club interestingly swayed pressure from coach C.K Akunnor suggesting Yacouba is now facing tougher and quality opponents than he used to face previously.

He tells Kumasi FM that “Let’s consider the opposition Yacouba was playing against under coach Paa Kwesi Fabian. We cannot compare his form under Paa Kwesi Fabian and CK Akonnor,He is playing against quality teams now. He is now being tested and this is the time he needs to prove his qualities, the oppositions he played earlier were very weak.”

Yacouba failed to score in his maiden appearance in the Caf Confederations Cup against Kariobangi Sharks of Kenya in both legs. He again failed to find the back of the net against Obuasi Ashanti Gold in a recently played JAK ceremonial Cup. 

Kotoko has a date with Coton Sports Garoua of Cameroon in the final lap of the Caf Confederations Cup on Sunday the 13th of January, 2019.
