1. There is a lot at stake at the Sunyani Coronation Park
The Dormaa Ahenkro giants, Aduana Stars will make a short trip to Sunyani to face the wounded Tano Bofoakwa who are battling relegation. Aduana Stars is 6 points behind the table toppers Samartex and must not drop any points if they are to catch them. Bofoakwa on the other hand are in a relegation fight and are just two points before safety. A win for Tano Bofoakwa can move them out of the relegation zone even though the 15th-placed team Dreams FC have 2 games in hand.
2. Samartex faces the unpredictable Legon Cities
Legon Cities and Accra Lions are probably the most unpredictable sides in the GPL as you do not know the kind of challenge they will present when meeting you. You can win comfortably against them but they can also give you real trouble. Samartex leads Nations FC by two points on the top of the table but they are facing Legon Cities who have nothing to lose. Legon Cities are unbeaten in their last 7 home games. They have recorded 6 wins and 1 draw including a 1-0 win over Nsoatreman which sent them to the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup. This is the battle Samartex are facing on Wednesday afternoon in Dawu, at the Theatre of Dreams.
3. Asante Kotoko can’t afford to miss the three points against Nsoatreman
It is simple, Kotoko must heat Nsoatreman to calm the pressure down. It is 5 games without a win for the Porcupine Warriors. There is no hope for a title challenge as they are 12 points behind the leader Samartex but at least, Prosper Ogum and his charges must finish within the top four. Asante Kotoko faces a team that has lost 4 of their last 5 away games. Someone needs to step up and inspire the Porcupine Warriors on Thursday night. Asante Kotoko sits in 8th position with 33 points while their opponents are 2 points and a place ahead of them.
4. Nations FC travels to Nareligu to face the beleaguered RTU
Nations FC needs the three points to fight for the title just like RTU needs it to fight for relegation. RTU shocked Accra Lions in Week 23 in their only win in the last 7 games and hence has the potential to give Kasim Mingle and Johnson Smith’s side a tough time. A win for Nations will serve as a springboard ahead of their next two games against the struggling Bofaokwa and Heart of Lions.
5. Bibiani Gold Stars returns to their heaven with 3 points from Accra
What a sweet victory it was on Sunday night for Frimpong Manso and his team. It was a first away win in 21 games for Bibiani Gold Stars. They are now above relegation talk as their form suggests they will remain in the league. Since Frimpong Manso was confirmed as the head coach, Bibiani Gold Stars has won all their 5 games at home. They are unbeaten in the last three away games. Things have been turned around for Bibiani Gold Stars and expect them to beat Karela on Wednesday at their heaven.
6. Medeama entertains Hearts of Oak in Tarkwa
The defending champions are 9th on the table and are 12 points behind the leaders. It seems the title defence is well over for the Mauve and Yellow. They now have to fight hard to finish higher up the table. At the Akoon Park, they will face the wounded Accra Hearts of Oak on Wednesday. Phobia has lost back-to-back games and the momentum they gathered is gone. Aboubakar Ouattara will love to see his side bounce back to winning ways but it will be a huge job as Medeama does well at home.
