1. Kamaradini Mamudu leading Medeama’s title challenge
I have always been a top fan of the Medeama defender. He can play as a right back, left back and a midfielder. I remember when Medeama defeated Belouizdad 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in the CAF Champions League Group D fixture when he outjumped everyone and snatched the winner, a journalist at the post match conference asked Evans Adotey, “How good is Kamaradini Mamudu?”.
“He is an excellent player that i have been with at Karela and Ashgold”. “He was a midfielder when playing for Ashgold”, concluded Adotey.
The young man is simply a fantastic player and its only a matter of time that Otto Addo will add him to the Black Stars. He scored his second goal of the season for Medeama in the 2-1 away win at Basake Holy Stars. He put the Mauve and Yellow ahead. Mamudu is undoubtedly the best full back in the country now and his versatility is unmatched.
2. Is Ouattara turning the corner?
What a difference a week can make. Prior to the visist of Bechem United in Week 3 of the Ghana Premier League, Phobia’s fans called for the sacking of the Ivorian manager. Nyaho Tamakloe insisted the fans should exercise patience and give the head coach time. The last two games have been good for Phobia as they beat Bechem United 2-0 in Week 3 and drew goalless at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese on last Sunday.
The results was so good because Nations FC are unbeaten at home since gaining promotion to the GPL. The signs from the last two games are positive and many feel that Aboubakar Ouattara is turning things around. Phobia had 14 goal attempts with 4 on targets. They now host the troubled Aduana in Week 5 and a win for Accra Hearts of Oak will put Ouattara in a better position.
3. Joachim Yaw Acheampong is under pressure
Honestly, Yaw Acheampong is now leading the managerial sacking race. Aduana Stars are yet to record a single win in 4 games and have been in the shadows of their former self. The Ogya Boys immediately hit back and took a lead in the first half through Emmanuel Marfo’s brace.
Young Apostles’ Rurf Abdul Rahman was the hero of Wenchi as he scored in the 88th and 90th minutes to condemn Yaw Acheampong’s timid Aduana Stars to second defeat of the season. Just 2 points have been won from possible 12 as it is very disturbing to the fans. It wont be surprised to see Yaw Acheampong exit the door as the head coach of Aduana at the University of Ghana at the weekend.
4. Golden City Park is a difficult venue for Asante Kotoko
It is 14 good years now and Fabulous are yet to win against Chelsea in the Ghana Premeir League at the Berekum Golden City Park. The visit of the Porcupine Warriors promised to be a feisty contest. Nana Oduro Sarfo, Director of Chelsea likened Asante Kotoko to Young Apostles in the build up to the game and it was never a good comments to the Fabulous fans.
It sparked a mini animosity between the two clubs ahead of the clash. Bragging rights aside the 3 points became the reason why everybody needed to avoid defeat.
Former WAFA midfielder Micheal Kyei scored in the 3nd minute to put Kotoko in the lead. Zackaria Fusseini pulled parity in the 60th minute. Both sides were satisfied with the results after the 90 minutes. Golden City Park is officially the most difficult venue for Asante Kotoko now.
5. Legon Cities are playing like a relegation bound side
After 4 games, the Royals have lost 3 and drawn just 1. Just a point has been snatched from a possible 12. 2 goals have been scored and 6 conceded. Dont they look like a team that will be hearding to Division One? It is very early to talk about relegation but Paa Kwesi Fabian’s Legon Cities ate playing so badly. Where will they get the motivation from?
They lacked everything in their 2-0 defeat against Karela on Sunday. A possible relegation six pointer has ended in a defeat, how will the Royals fare now? Legon Cities must beat Nsoatreman in Nsoatre in Week 5 to calm the fears down. Paa Kwesi Fabian has the experienced, the Royals expect Jim to turn things around.
