President of the Ghana football Association [GFA] Kwesi Nyantakyi has expounded the rationale behind decision to camp the National football team the Black Stars in UAE ahead of the Gabon AFCON stating it is economical.
The GFA capo explained the Hotel accommodation cost in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon are relatively higher than the hotel accommodation cost in Dubai thus informed their decision.
Many have questioned why the black stars should camp outside the African continent the United Arab Emirates while the tournament being prepared for is to be played in Africa.
Some of the suggestions have been that the Stars should find a neighboring nation to Gabon where the tourney will be staged to acclimatize early but the football Association President and the management committee of the team thinks otherwise.
Nyantakyi speaking at a press conference on Monday where Avram Grant announced a twenty-six man squad for the tourney defended the decision with the above.
He also added that many of the participating countries will be camping in the UAE hence will enhance some friendly matches.
The Black stars team will tonight depart to the United Arab Emirates as part of preparations of the upcoming AFCON which is set to commence on the fourteenth day of February.
Ghana has been drawn in Group D alongside Mali, Uganda and seven time champions Egypt.
