Columbus Crew central defender Lalas Abubakar has disclosed how fellow Ghanaian Jonathan Mensah has helped shaped his career as a footballer.
According to the 23-year-old defender, Black Stars centre back Jonathan Mensah has been his role model and he is pleased to be playing with him since there still a lot to be learnt from him .
Speaking in an interview with massivereport, Abubakar said “I grew up watching Jonathan playing in two World Cups and he has been my mentor,”
“Having the opportunity to play with him and to learn from him is great. And Josh also is very calm on the ball. I watched them both a lot last year and I picked a lot of good things. It’s great to have two great veterans around, I learn from them every day.”
Abubakur who according to soccer statistics tabloid whoscored.com has the highest passing average in the MLS this season is yet to be capped by Ghana or US at senior level.
