Richard Boadu, a towering midfielder in the Ghana Premier League has expressed his excitement following his appointment as the captain for Ghana’s most successful football team, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC.
The workaholic midfielder says he was very happy when he was appointed the captain of the Reds though he knew it came with a lot of responsibilities.
According to Boadu, being a Kotoko player in itself is not easy and was on cloud nine to be recognized by the club’s hierarchy to give him the honour to lead the club.
“Being a Kotoko player itself is not easy. So, I was very happy when I was appointed captain of the side. It’s now in the records,” Boadu told Kumasi-based Kessben Sports
“At some point it’s scary because it comes with additional responsibility and pressure. As a player who was focused on handling that responsibility, I was okay with it because I wanted to do something to prove that I could do something great for Kotoko,” he added.
He joined Kotoko from Medeama in 2021, and won the Ghana Premier League in his debut season with the Porcupine Warriors.
Boadu became a mainstream player for the team and has gone ahead to make 60 appearances for the Porcupine Warriors and has two goals in his two-year stay at the club to his name.
