Hearts of Oak and former Black Stars defender, Samuel Inkoom has disclosed his plans to venture into player management once he retires from professional football.
With a successful career that included stints with various European clubs and appearances for the national teams, the 34-year-old former Black Stars right-back is approaching the end of his playing days.
In an interview on 3FM, Inkoom expressed his intention to focus on scouting and recruiting players to manage, with the aim of providing opportunities for numerous Ghanaian talents to flourish.
He emphasized that while many players often consider coaching after retiring, there are various other aspects of the game that can be pursued. Inkoom believes that player management is a viable and valuable path for him to contribute to the development of young players.
“There are a lot of things in football that players can also do apart from coaching. It is not always that when you are a legend you are supposed to be a coach. No. you can do scouting, you can also learn player management and stuff.
He expressed his desire to support young talents in Ghana by providing them with a solid platform to showcase their abilities and potential in the world of football.
“And this is what I want to do. I want to help the young ones when I go into player management because we have a bunch of potentials in Ghana but they need a good platform to also show their talent.”
Inkoom’s career saw him play a crucial role in the success of the Black Satellites, who won the U-20 World Cup in 2009. He was also an integral part of the Black Stars’ 2010 World Cup journey when they reached the quarter-finals for the first time in their history.
