Arsenal FC star midfielder Thomas Partey says his position on the field is not anything of importance than what he could do to help his side win games.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder played full throttle for the Black Stars as they beat the Warriors of Zimbabwe 3-1 at the Cape Coast stadium on Saturday evening.
Partey, who started the game as the holding midfielder and just sitting in front of the defenders was later pushed forward in the second half by coach Milovan Rajevac when the Zimbabweans equalized.
After he was pushed forward, the Ghanaian produced a masterclass performance and a moment of magic as dribbled past the Zimbabwean defense as if he was a prime Lionel Messi or World Pele.
His goal restored Ghana’s one goal lead and was asked about his new role on the field after Baba Iddrisu’s introduction to the match.
” It’s not about where I play for the Black Stars, it depends on the coach and any role I am given to play, I will just do that to help the national team “ -Thomas Partey.
Partey was absent in Ghana’s first two games of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa respectively.
His first game in the qualifiers was against the Warriors of Zimbabwe and he was among the goal scorers for the Black Stars who ran away as 3-1 victors to get their campaign back on track.
