Arsenal icon Ian Wright has called on the club to offer Thomas Partey a contract extension, insisting the Ghanaian midfielder remains a vital asset to Mikel Arteta’s team.
Speaking passionately about Partey’s influence, Wright dismissed speculation about the midfielder’s future and emphasized the rarity of his qualities.
“I don’t see why we should be thinking about it — there’s nothing to think about,” Wright said. “Thomas Partey should be given another contract. It’s not easy to find a midfielder like Thomas. We don’t have many of them in the streets. He has shown that he deserves more and more.”
Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in October 2020, has battled injuries during his time in north London but is widely regarded as one of the squad’s most intelligent and composed midfielders. His ability to control the tempo, break up opposition play, and distribute effectively has made him a key figure when fit.
With his current deal set to expire in 2025, discussions about his future have intensified. However, Partey’s recent return to full fitness and consistent performances have reignited support from fans and now from one of the club’s most respected legends.
