Head coach of Vision FC, Nana Kwaku Agyemang, has expressed concern over the declining competitiveness of the Ghana Premier League, urging fellow Ghanaian coaches to step up and help restore the league’s lost appeal.
In recent seasons, there has been growing criticism about the quality and tactical depth of Ghana’s top-flight, and Agyemang believes the current campaign reflects those concerns. Speaking in an interview with Kessben FM, the former football analyst noted that the league lacks variety and tactical sophistication.
“I think the Ghana Premier League is not competitive enough,” he said. “Tactically, many clubs play the same style—just running with the ball and trying to score goals. There’s hardly any clear tactical identity, making it difficult to study and counter specific teams.”
He continued, “The standard of play has definitely dropped compared to previous years. As coaches, it’s our responsibility to raise the bar, bring structure and strategy to our teams, and make the league more attractive and competitive.”
Nana Agyemang joined Vision FC at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, guiding the Premier League debutants through a challenging campaign. With three matches remaining, the Tema-based side sits in 14th position on the league table with 33 points, just above the relegation zone.
