Following their successful retention of top-flight status for the upcoming 2023/2024 campaign, Karela United is planning a squad overhaul during the summer transfer window.
Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko has emphasized the need for higher-caliber players to compete in the Ghana Premier League.
Reports suggest that Karela United has set their sights on midfielders Prince Kwame Dogbe from Kotoku Royals and Ali Mohammed from Tamale City, both of whom are eager to secure transfers after their respective clubs were relegated to the second tier of Ghanaian football.
However, in order to bring in players like Dogbe and Mohammed during the Domestic transfer window, Shaibu Tanko will need to offload several players from the current squad. The performances of Daniel Kwofie Paha have convinced Tanko that the former Samartex FC midfielder should be moved on, while Joseph Dinku’s inconsistency has also raised doubts about his reliability.
Even the longest-serving player, Kodwo Addae, and his deputy, Kwaku Osei, are under scrutiny, as the coach is considering parting ways with the captain and vice-captain, whose contracts are set to expire.
Goalkeeper Emmanuel Essandoh is also facing uncertainty, as Coach Tanko aims to remove underperforming players inherited from his predecessor, Bismark Kobi-Mensah, who mutually left the club.
Additionally, Karela United is set to release several other players, including Prince Asempa, Enock Ablenyo, Salim Illiasu, Emmanuel Anaful, and Philip Flamini, who will be out of contract.
Furthermore, loan signing Evans Adomako Wiredu, who had an impressive season with the Aiyinasi-based club, has returned to his parent club, Asante Kotoko.
