Following King Faisal’s goalless draw with Asante Kotoko, their deputy coach, Godwin Ablordey, expressed frustration and aimed criticism at referee Robert Musey.
During the game, Faisal had two incidents where they believed they should have been awarded a penalty, but the referee did not agree. In the first, Benjamin Bature was stopped in his tracks by Kotoko captain Richard Boadu, and in the second, Maxwell Agyemang caught Samuel Kusi’s foot as he cleared the ball inside the Kotoko 18-yard box.
In his post-match interview with StarTimes, Ablordey believed that Faisal should have been awarded a clear penalty in the second incident, but the referee ignored it. He expressed his disappointment, stating that missed opportunities and poor refereeing were the biggest problems his team faced in the game.
“This is the biggest problem in the team, we created all the chances but couldn’t bury them but I think we had a penalty but the referee ignored it, it’s his decision but I think we had a penalty. It was clear but he was closer to the incident and he didn’t whistle for us but it’s football, it happens in the game,” he stated.
King Faisal who now sit at the 10th position with 32 points on the league log will next face Aduana Stars in the MTN FA Cup on Sunday, April 9 at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Stadium in Abrankese.
