Renowned Swedish Journalist, Pernilla Naslund says fans in her home country are not noted for booing or mocking players but Malmo FF midfielder Kingsley Sarfo must brace himself for anything as it can happen.
Sarfo was keen on playing for the Scandinavians and submitted his documents for nationality switch but the talented midfielder who previously ignored Ghana rescinded his decision and came to feature in Ghana’s World Cup qualifying game against Uganda in Kampala.

With the Northern Europeans defeating Italy 1-0 to book their ticket for the Mundial in Russia whilst Ghana failed to qualify, Naslund, whose husband is a Ghanaian hinted that Sarfo’s alleged off-field activities which has already tarnished his image in Sweden can let the fans boo him when the Allsvenskan begins next year.
“Swedish fans don’t have a big tradition of booing or mocking though. Even though it can happen. But if it would happen it would probably never be from the teams own fans but the other teams supporters. The behaviour of mocking is nothing I stand behind. Now I hope he will think over his situation and decide to leave all bad behind and focus on what he do best, playing football. Because we always want to see good players here.” Naslund told footballmadeinghana.com
“The thing with him is not what he do at the pitch but outside football. Driving drunk. Arrested for suspicion of having sex with small girls, which counts to rape here in Sweden if they are younger than 15. And no one supports that behaviour over here. ”
“It was also a documentary on tv here about agents connected to criminal groups and he was said to be with one of those agents. The documentary didn’t put him in a good way. He didn’t say smart things. So, especially on internet people would complain about him if he would become a part of Swedish team. But I don’t think Swedish team would sign him as the situation is now. Players suspected for or convicted for things like rape….no, they get sacked or not called at all”

Sarfo who was signed by Malmo FF from IK Sirius was key as his new team won the 2017 Allsvenskan.
