Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko are preparing for a major squad overhaul as they gear up for the 2025/26 football season and their return to continental competition.
The Porcupine Warriors wrapped up the 2024/25 campaign on a high, lifting the MTN FA Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Golden Kick FC at the University of Ghana Stadium — a win that secured them qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup and marked their 10th FA Cup triumph.
With attention now turning to the upcoming season, the club’s Communication Director, Sarfo Duku, has confirmed that changes are imminent within the playing body. He noted that the club will part ways with underperforming players as part of their preparation for both the domestic and continental fronts.
“We are going to plan carefully for our African campaign, especially in terms of financing. Very soon, changes will be made to the squad. Players who could not meet expectations will be released. In the next few days, some of them will be leaving,” Duku told the media.
Meanwhile, Kotoko paid a courtesy call to the life patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Wednesday, June 19, to present the FA Cup trophy and officially mark the end of their 2024/25 campaign.
The club’s delegation was led by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), alongside Kwesi Appiah and Malik Jabir, who serve as technical director and technical advisor respectively.
