Kurt Okraku, the current leader of the Ghana Football Association who also double as President of the WAFU Zone B, has faced criticism for his leadership style.
Outspoken football administrator Alhaji Grusah, who is a respected figure in Ghanaian football, recently spoke about Okraku on Akoma, describing him as an autocratic leader.
According to the owner of Kumasi King Faisal FC, Okraku does not give other members of the Executive Council a chance to share their views. This approach, he believes, is not helping the growth of Ghanaian football and is causing Ghana football dearly.
Grusah also stated that Okraku’s main focus seems to be on promoting his own players, rather than working to strengthen the entire football system. This is concerning to many fans and stakeholders who feel that football in Ghana needs leaders committed to its development.
The comments made by Grusah echo those of another respected football official, Mr. Fianoo. Grusah mentioned that he fully supports Fianoo’s stance on Okraku.
Grusah went on to say that if anyone within Ghalca, the Ghana League Clubs Association, tries to intimidate or threaten Fianoo for his views, he would personally stand up for him.
Grusah’s statement shows his commitment to protecting the right to speak freely and his dedication to improving the state of Ghanaian football.
Ghana has suffered three group stages elimination in three consecutive tournaments whilst the junior national teams continue to fail to make it to major tournaments.
