Sportsworldghana.com sources indicate Kwesi Nyantakyi will step down as Ghana football association President if he wins a slot on the FIFA Executive Council.
Nyantakyi is among five candidates contesting for two slots allocated to Africa on the FIFA Executive Council.
The Ghanaian FA boss passed the FIFA Integrity check last week to pave the way for him to contest for the position on the governing council.
Further investigations have revealed that Tony Baffoe Professional Footballers Association of Ghana,General secretary is been considered for the Position.
A close sources said,”Yes,there have been series of meeting about him stepping done as FA boss .Tony Baffoe,George Afriyie and one other persons(name yet to be known) are in the line for the Job.”
Sportsworldghana.com can confirm that Tony Baffoe who’s Nyantakyi first choice to succeed him is not interested in the position but some Gurus at the fa are still in consent talks with him .
The FA Vice George Afriyie who was a strong contender some this position some years ago is out of favor in the eyes of FA president.
Nyantakyi, who doubles as CAF executive committee member have told some members of the FA that he will not vacate his post if his choice of personality to succeed decline the offer.
The Ghanaian FA leader is competing against Sukeru Patel, the first Vice President of CAF who is also the President of the Seychelles Football Association, Hima Djibrilla Hamidou (Niger), Augustin Senghor (Senegal), Almany Kabele Kamara (Guinea) and Ahmad of Madagascar.
They are all presidents of their respective federations.When elected, Africa’s representatives will join 32 other members to form the FIFA Executive Council which replaces the old 24-member Executive Committee as part of the reform process at FIFA.
They will be responsible for setting the overall strategy direction of football’s world governing body now headed by Gianni Infantino.
According to the GFA status in case the FA president steps down, the Vice takes over and a date is fixed to hold fresh election.
