President of Sports Writers Association of Ghana, Kwabena Yeboah, has expressed his frustration about the lack of support for local coaches.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named local coaches to take charge of all the national teams as part of their restructuring process.
However, according to the ace journalist, the GFA has consistently failed to support local coaches in the past and implored the new administration to provide all the requisite support to coaches they have named to take charge of the various national teams.
“I think the GFA has done the right thing by appointing a local coach to take charge of the Black Stars and the other national teams. I remember I met President Akufo-Addo and he pledged not to allow an expatriate to take charge of the Black Stars and he has been truthful to Ghanaians,” he told GTV Sports Plus.
“When expatriate coaches come to this country, we furnish him with everything that he will need to succeed as Black Stars coach but it not so with our local coaches.
“We give expatriate coach a four-wheel drive and give him a driver. We give him a house but do we see the GFA doing that for our local coaches?
“They GFA must help develop our local coaches, the decision to appoint C.K. Akonnor was the right thing to do but he will need the support of Ghanaians to succeed,” he added.
