Former Ghana striker Majeed Abdul Waris has expressed the belief that it’s time to include legendary forward Asamoah Gyan in the management of Ghana football.
Waris asserts that Gyan, a former Ghana captain, has the country’s best interests at heart and could contribute significantly if involved with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Waris’s comments come in the aftermath of Ghana’s early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations, particularly the disappointing collapse against Mozambique. Despite Gyan not publicly expressing a desire to join football management, the 37-year-old has closely followed the Black Stars since his retirement.
“Time to get Asamoah Gyan involved in the GFA. One of the real guys who always has the nation at heart,” wrote Waris on social media.
Waris and Gyan shared the pitch for the Black Stars for many years, contributing to the squad’s qualification for the 2014 World Cup.
The 32-year-old Waris currently plays in Cyprus with Anorthosis Famagusta.
