Ghana’s Black Satellites were defeated 2-0 by Senegal in their second group game of the ongoing 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament on Wednesday.
Coach Jimmy Corbblah and his charges were seeking a second straight victory to become the first team to reach the semi-finals but did not come to fruition as the Young Lions of Teranga put up an incredible performance to seal a convincing victory at the Maradi Stadium.
Aliou Badji netted a brace for the Young Lions of Teranga.
The attacker opened the scoring with a superb header in the 11th minute before he fired past hapless Ghana goalkeeper Manaf Nurudeen to double the lead for his side before recess.
The defeat means that Ghana will need a win or any form of draw against Mali on Saturday to enable them qualify for the world cup in Poland later this year.
Meanwhile, Senegal have secured qualification to the semi-finals and the Fifa U-20 World Cup.
