Medeama SC is on the verge of appointing former Tema Youth coach Nebojsa Kapor as their new head coach following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Yanga SC in the CAF Champions League.
The current head coach, Evans Adotey, will transition back to his previous role as the technical director.
Kapor, a Bosnian tactician, accompanied the team on their recent trip to Tanzania and is anticipated to assume the coaching responsibilities soon. His appointment comes at a critical juncture for Medeama, grappling with challenges both domestically and internationally.
Struggling in the CAF Champions League with only one victory and substantial losses against Al Ahly and Yanga SC, Medeama’s chances of progressing to the knockout stages are in jeopardy.
Additionally, their defense of the Ghana Premier League title has been lackluster, trailing league leaders Aduana FC by 11 points, despite having played four fewer games.
Kapor, familiar with the domestic football landscape, has been monitoring Medeama’s situation from a distance. Eager to take on the challenge, he is expected to leverage Adotey’s experience and guidance if appointed.
Adotey, instrumental in leading the club to their first Ghana Premier League title and historic qualification to the group stage of the CAF Champions League, remains committed to the club’s success. He expresses willingness to support Kapor in any capacity.
