Barcelona admit they are “working to try and convince Messi”
During a flight transporting the Argentina national football team from Buenos Aires to San Juan, Lionel Messi and several other teammates were reported ill after extreme turbulence.
The squad were travelling in preparation for their World Cup qualifying fixture against Colombia on Tuesday evening.
According to Argentine radio show La Red, Messi and other players vomited due to the flight’s movement, and were catered to by the team’s medical experts whilst in mid-air.
“It is true the flight moved a little, and some of the players were taken ill, but this is common when you fly through the flight path to San Juan,” said team delegate, Jorge Miadosqui.
After the emphatic defeat to Brazil on Thursday, manager Edgardo Bauza will be looking for an instant response from his side, who are treading daringly with the possibility of an unsuccessful qualifying campaign, and missing out on Russia 2018.
