Ministry of Youth and Sports charges Hearts to exceed expectations against WAC

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has thrown a challenge to Ghana Premier League side, Accra Hearts of Oak, to qualify for the next round of the CAF Champions League.

Hearts are currently in Morocco, where they play Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) in the second leg of their play-offs tie.

The Rainbow club beat WAC by a goal to nil in the earlier fixture last week, courtesy of a 41st-minute strike from Isaac Mensah.

The return fixture is set for Sunday, October 24, with Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports urging Samuel Boadu’s side to exceed expectations and hoist high the flag of Ghana.

In a press release signed by the Public Relations Unit of the ministry, the letter said:

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports extends its heartfelt felicitations to Accra Hearts of Oak in their second leg tie against Wydad AC of Morocco in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.

“The team being the sole representative of Ghana in this year’s CAF Champions League deserves a lot of commendations for their exceptional performance.

“The Ministry would like to encourage the team to perform beyond the expectation of their fans and Ghanaians as a whole.

“Ghanaians are being entreated to throw their support and prayers behind the team to make the country proud.”                                  

A win or draw for Hearts in Morocco will see them advance to the group stage of the continental club competition.
