Former Ghana star Nii Odartey Lamptey, has revealed his readiness to give 10% of his GLOW LAMP Academy to Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko in a form of partnership provided they are ready to do business with him.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, recently entrusted Asante Kotoko into the hands of Dr Kwame Kyei for a second time after maintaining him as Executive Chairman of the club.
The business mogul, will head newly-constituted Board of Directors made of nine members.
He will be assisted by Jude Arthur, who served as a board member in 2013. Tema-based businessman and two-time board member Alhaji Lamine has also been brought back to be part of the new team.
Former sports journalist Evelyn Nsiah Asare, who is now Director of Sports at the Sunyani Technical University is also part of the board.
Other members include Joseph Yaw Adu, Laryea Kwamina Mensah, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi.
According to letter by Manhyia Palace Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu, the new Board of Directors have been tasked to rebuild the Kotoko brand not only for its performance on the sporting field but as a viable economic entity.
The life patron and owner of the club, always tasked the newly constituted Board of Directors to set up a modern Academy for the club.
Having attracted global attention with his immense talent, the 45-year-old aims at transferring his potentials to young ambitious footballers by setting up an Academy where he helps nature and grow talents in his native country and wants to do that by partnering Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko.
”My doors are open for Kotoko to have ten percent partnership with my Academy.” the former Anderlecht star told Ocean 1 TV in an interview.
Odartey’s remarkable performance left his image in the minds of many fans who watched him at the 1991 FIFA U17 World Cup.
At the tournament, the World’s Football governing body (FIFA), organizers of the FIFA U17 World Cup recognized him as one of the celebrated players in the competition.
Not only did he make a mark at the U17 level, Lamptey came through the junior ranks in the Ghana National team thus U20, U23 and finally the Black Stars.
Odartey Lamptey further made a big case for himself in Europe playing for the likes of Anderlecht, PSV and Aston Villa.
