Celebrated Nigeria Beach Soccer coach, Awudu Ejo Adamu has described the Black Sharks of Ghana as the future team to watch on the continent.
Currently in his tenth year of involvement with beach soccer in Nigeria, the technical head made the comments to the media after his side eliminated the Ghanaian Sharks.
“When it comes to Ghana versus Nigeria, whether it’s Under 1, Under 12 or Under 13 competition, it’s always hot but what we witnessed tonight was fantastic”
The coach confessed that he has been surprised at the way Ghana has closed the gap with the top nations in such a short time since joining the African beach soccer family just three years ago.
“The way Ghana is coming up, the next qualifiers you will see them at the World Cup”
Although the Black Sharks lost all their pool matches to Ivory Coast, Egypt and Nigeria, coach Adamu attributed this to pressure, inexperience and tactical naivety.
“They (Ghana) are determined and playing with their mind and heart because they bring all their mind to play just like the way I told you”
The Sand Eagles face Morocco on Saturday for a place at the World Cup – Bahamas 2017, with Senegal playing Egypt for the other slot available to Africa.
Ghana’s Black Sharks on the other hand confront the wrath of defending champions Madagascar who are licking their wounds after they were surprisingly beaten by Morocco in their last group match.
Ghana is the only team at the tournament with players selected solely from coastal beach soccer clubs and not professional teams or semi retired players.
