Since Togbe Afede XIV became the majority shareholder and board chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak no coach has lasted two years at the Phobian club as coach Edward Nii Odoom is widely expected to be sacked from his role as head coach.
The Phobians have also not won any major silverware under Togbe Afede as the club counts the 2008/09 Ghana Premier League title as their last major honor.
The respected businessman and traditional ruler took over as owner of the ‘Continental Club Masters’ in October 2011 and has seen not less than fifteen different head coaches hired and fired.
When the former President of the National House of Chiefs became majority shareholder of the 2000 CAF Champions League winners , Nebojsa Vucicevic was the head coach of Hearts of Oak by then but the Serbian was shown the exit door in March 2012 as the Togbe Afede-led board hired Charles Kwablan Akonnor to replace the expatriate tactician. Akonnor, however, lasted just seven months in his dream job following his sack in November that year due to bad string of results.
Former Ashantigold trainer David Duncan was then handed the big job but was surprisingly fired in November 2013 despite the fact that his team was doing very well in the league – a decision that shocked many people including Hearts of Oak fans as the club were fined more than 80 000 GHC for wrongful dismissal of Duncan.

Even Kenichi Yatsuhashi who came to do his part to reform the team did not last beyond seven months and this lack of managerial consistency continues as Nii Odoom – winless in two league games this season – is expected to be replaced by former coach Kosta Papic whose last job was with the eSwatini national team.
