Jérémy Doku’s brother Jefferson Doku has revealed that Doku’s move to Stade Rennais did not come with anu difficulty after he was linked with a move to several clubs.
The 18-year-old signed a five-year deal with the French club following successful negotiations and passing his mandatory medicals.
A host of Europe’s elite division clubs including Manchester City, Liverpool FC, AC Milan and Juventus were all interested in acquiring his services but he opted to join Rennais.
“It’s not a difficult choice, you know,” Jefferson told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“Be careful, he is very independent for his age. Cooking, washing: all this is not a problem. And from the club, he will also receive advice. But we all supported this decision.
“We will see what I will do there.”
Doku got his breakthrough season during the 2019/20 football season when he made his senior debut for Anderlecht in the Pro League.
His impressive display for Anderlecht earned him a call-up to the senior national team of Belgium.
