Ghana Football Association has officially announced Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac as the new head coach of the Black Stars ahead of Zimbabwe clash next month.
The Serbian returns to Ghana after a successful world cup tournament with the West African giant in 2010, a job he would leave just days after Ghana exited the FIFA World Cup tournament at the quarter-finals following an impressive showing at the Mundial where Ghana reached the last eight round.
The 67-year-old has barely been as successful as he was with the Stars and since leaving the shores of the country. He managed several top-notch posts in football including taking over the head coach jobs at Algeria, Qatar, and Thailand.
His last active spell in the coaching came two years ago when he lasted just six months as Thailand head coach in Asia but was sacked following a defeat to India.
Rajevac takes over the job following the sacking of Charles Kwablan Akonnor who was shown the exit door 11 days ago due to poor performance.
Rajevac will be assisted by Borussia Dortmund’s Head of Talent Development Otto Addo as well as former Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu.
He will be in the dugout when Ghana takes on the Warriors of Zimbabwe on October 9 at the Cape Coast stadium for their third FIFA World Cup qualifiers in group G.
He will receive $30k as monthly salary and will receive a sum of $300k if he qualify Ghana for the next mundial.
