Dutch-midfielder of Ghanaian descent Johnatan Opoku Agyeman is set to leave Eredivisie side VVV Venlo with his contract set to expire on June 30, 2020.
Opoku has been key to the fortunes of the Yellow Black Army in the just ended season netting six goals and providing three assists in 19 league goals but he has decided to seek other avenue with his contract scheduled to end this month.
The 30-year-old offensive midfielder has been one of the most consistent performers in the Dutch top flight for the past decade which has seen him also representing Veendam and Oss.
He joined VV Venlo from Oss on July 1, 2015 and has gone to make a total of 134 appearances, scoring 37 goals and providing 26 assists which is the highest for a midfielder in the club’s history.
The experienced midfielder was born to a Ghanaian father and a Dutch mother in the City of Zuphen. He holds both Ghanaian and Dutch passport but is yet to be capped by any of this countries at any level despite his impressive display.
Sportsworldghana understands that fellow Dutch Eredivise club Sparta Rotterdam and Heracles Almelo are all keen on signing him this summer and talks are expected to start soon.
