The Ghanaian senior men’s national team last regrouped in June, where they secured back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Now, the Black Stars are set to reconvene early next week as they embark on their journey towards the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with qualification expected to be secured over the next three international windows.
Head coach Otto Addo has largely stuck with the core of his squad, including key players such as Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku. Notable returns include Inaki Williams and Majeed Ashimeru, who were absent in the previous fixtures. Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare remains the sole home-based player in the lineup.
Captain Andre Ayew’s inclusion is uncertain as he continues to search for a new club. The Black Stars will commence their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign against Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a clash with Niger four days later.
