Hearts of Oak drew at Techiman Eleven Wonders and got beaten at home by Ashantigold 3-1 in Cape Coast and whilst the team fielded Winful Cobbinah, Malik Akowuah, Isaac Mensah, Joseph Esso in these games Patrick Razak was rather still sidelined through injury.
But after this bad start, Razak gets in and problem is solved – at least against Dwarfs and Dreams FC on Day 3 and Day 4 respectively.
Hearts of Oak won 2-0 against Dwarfs to register their first win of the season and it was Razak that scored the first of the double in his first appearance of the season. He received a ball in the box from teammate Daniel Kordie, maintained a great composure in between two Dwarfs players before placing it beyond the reach of goalkeeper Andoh in the 56th minute. Joseph Esso added the second of the day for the Phobians 18 minutes from time as Henry Wellington recorded a first win.
Razak is not only scoring the goals but the football he’s playing is dangerous as well. He takes on defenders as usual and with him and Esso up front the team looked fine and they can only improve to win games consistently. That is where legends are made to be able to win games week in week out.
Against Dreams FC last Sunday – still at the same Cape Coast stadium – Razak connected home a Christopher Bonney cross in the 19th minute of the first half and that remained the only goal scored in the tense affair and Hearts of Oak realized their second victory of the campaign.
Two wins in their last two games have propelled Hearts of Oak to the third position on the league standings and Patrick Razak for the first time in his Hearts of Oak career has scored in consecutive league games.
Of course Dwarfs and Dreams FC are not top class opposition like Aduana Stars and Ashgold but for a side like Hearts of Oak that has greatly fallen winning games against the lowest of teams in the league are as important as playing against the best teams in the competition.
It is a perfect time for the former Tamale Utrecht winger to shine and his influence and decisiveness could not have come at a better time than now.
Whilst Razak feels confident at this moment it is equally challenging for himself to maintain this level as game influencer for the Phobians.
