Ghana’s sole representative in the CAF Champions League in Week 5, Seyi Sebe Baffour was on target for Horoya against ES Setif in Algeria. The midfielder scored the first goal of Horoya’s 3-2 defeat against ES Setif on the 25th minute of the crunch tie.
He is the first and only Ghanaian player to score in the group stage of the CAF Champions League this season. His goal was not sufficient for Horoya to do the unthinkable by winning in Algeria to stand any chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals. Sebe Baffour had started all 4 group stage games but was yet to complete the full 90 minutes, he enjoyed the whole 90 minutes against ES Setif and had a descent game.
In the CAF Confederation cup, Eric Owusu replaced Abraham Siankombo in the 90th minute for Zanaco when they defeated CS Sfaxien 1-0 in Group A. Bernard Morrison replaced Larry Bwalya in Simba’s 3-0 defeat against ASEC Mimosa. Morrison came in on the 46th minute in the second half when Simba was trailing by 2-0.
Hashmin Musah enjoyed the whole 90 minutes of US Gendarmeries 2-2 draw at home against RS Berkane. The former Inter Allies centre back has played every single minute in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup for the Nigerian club.
JS Saoura is a team that has an impressive record at home. Their last defeat at home came in December 2019 – a 1-0 loss to Bel Abbes in the Algerian Ligue 1. Orlando Pirates with 2 Ghanaians in their starting 11 did the unthinkable and won 2-0 in Algeria last night.
Kwame Peprah was replaced by Fortune Makaringe in the 77th minute. Richard Ofori was between the sticks for the Bucs for the whole game and kept a clean sheet.
