Plymouth Argyle have completed the signing of English-Ghanaian midfielder Malachi Boateng from Heart of Midlothian on a permanent transfer.
The 22-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract, adding strength to Miron Muslic’s midfield.
Boateng, who began his career at Crystal Palace, previously had loan spells at Queen’s Park and Dundee before joining Hearts last summer. Now, he follows in the footsteps of his older brother, Hiram Boateng, who also played for Argyle.
Head Coach Miron Muslic expressed excitement about the new addition:
“Malachi provides further strength in depth to the squad but also fits the profile of player we are trying to sign perfectly. He is tall, athletic and physical and complements the style of play I am trying to implement here at Argyle. I want to welcome him to the club and look forward to him joining up with the squad.”
Jimmy Dickinson, the club’s Head of Recruitment, also highlighted Boateng’s qualities:
“Malachi is a ball-winning defensive midfielder who will bolster Miron’s options. He adds athleticism and is also young and has loads of potential to develop and grow, and we believe he can do that under Miron’s leadership here at Argyle.”
Boateng’s arrival is expected to strengthen Plymouth Argyle’s midfield as they push for a strong finish in their campaign.
