As it has been in Africa, most footballers after their careers make USA their next destination, not to play football but to continue life aside football.
Sportsworldghana.com understands, the longest-serving Asante Kotoko player was nearly put to join the bandwagon by the Kotoko management which is led by Mr Opoku Nti.
Sources from the corridors of the Kumasi based football club have confided to us the management of Kotoko contemplated the idea of sending their midfielder to the USA to part ways after a long service.
Our sources indicated the club was on the verge of securing a United States of America visa which will have earned the loyal player a longer stay in the USA after his career but the midfielder had different ideas.
Oduro in a recent interview with a local radio station blasted the management of the club and stated they want to “force him out of Kotoko”
It will be recalled in 2013, the then management of Kotoko which was bossed by Dr. K.K Sarpong presented a retirement package for the player but the dedicated midfielder thought it was too early for him to bow out hence rejected the offer.
The current management of the club extended Stephen Oduro’s contract when they took over from the Dr Sarpong’s administration for reasons best known to them as statistics had previously shown the irrelevance of Oduro on the pitch.
The contract however ends this year but there hasn’t been any commitment shown to keep him.
