Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Sadick Adams believes Hearts of Oak defender Vincent Atinga had planned to end his football career hence that needless tackle on him during this year’s President Cup match on Monday at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
The game which had to be played on Monday after the match was rained off on Sunday has got a lot of controversies surrounding it, from Agbovi’s failure to send off Felix Annan, to Sadick Adams’ red card deserving reaction but was lucky to complete the game.
The team resumed training on Wednesday at the Adako Jachie training complex and the former Berekum Chelsea goal machine explained to sportsworldGhana.com why he reacted harshly on Atinga’s foul in an interview ahead of Sunday’s premier league match with Medeama SC.
”Personally I haven’t seen in the video that I used my arm on him [Vincent Atinga], if I did, the referee would have sent me off. It was just a reaction on the action because looking at what he did [from the video] it was career threatening. I prefer taking a red card than break my leg because after two to three matches the suspension is over but if my leg is broken I don’t know when I will return.
‘’He claims it wasn’t intentional but the video says otherwise, but it has happened it’s possible I can do same.’’
‘’He apologized after the game which I think it is part of the game. We are just concentrating on our next game’’, Sadick said when being asked why he reacted that way because most of the fans felt that was unprofessional of him.’’
The team went on to ask his condition whether he is fully fit because the fans were worried.
‘’You could see I had knocks in the game on Sunday as well which the coach rested me as a result of that. But as you can I came to training, everything is okay now’’, the forward added
On Sunday Kotoko plays Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium SportsworldGhana.com asked him how the trophy means to him going into the Medeama game.
‘’I will say it [the trophy] means a lot because it wasn’t easy playing two matches in two days [Sunday & Monday] against a side like Hearts. But we the players made up our minds to win the game to boost our morale towards our game against Medeama. And we thank God for that.’’
We will put it behind and concentrate on our next game on Sunday [against Medeama]’’, he stated
‘’In football, one side cannot play for 90 minutes, the opposite side will play as well. We just have to play our normal game and see how things will go. ‘’
‘’But I hope on Sunday we will be the victorious side though it will be a tough game’’, the former Ghana U-17 player added.’’
