Top of the table, most goals scored, attractive football – that is the situation at the Accra Hearts of Oak camp right now.
Coach Samuel Boadu has got the team gelling to the best of form that no one could discover, hunger that no coach could satisfy and demands that no was willing to meet.
Boadu stepped in the dugouts at the Accra Sports Stadium in the early days of March after the Rainbow boys parted ways with Kosta Papic after a poor run of form.
In his first game as the head coach for Hearts, the former Medeama trainer led the Accra-based club to a comfortable 4-0 victory over WAFA on match-day 17 of the Ghana Premier League. Prior to that game, Hearts were fifth on the league table and were struggling for consistency.
A second win in his second game against Aduana Stars was a promising sign of some good things to come under the man many identify him as ‘Kofi Yesu.’
Fast forward to the month of June and Hearts are on top of the Premier League, ahead of teams like Asante Kotoko, Karela United and noisy rivals Great Olympics.
Under his tutelage, the team have scored 19 goals in 13 games, conceding just four during that. The team has also manged nine clean sheets under Boadu’s management.
Hearts are currently on a seven game unbeaten run and seem to be the outright favourites to walk away with the title.
In the next five games, Hearts fans will be hoping the team can hold their grip and go on to win the top-flight title for the first time since last doing so in 2009.
