Former Ghana U20 coach Sellas Tetteh is heavily linked with the Ghana U23 coaching job according to reports in the local media.
The veteran gaffer is currently the head coach of Tamale City FC and has rejected an offer from Bechem United to manage the Hunters U-17 side.
The GFA Normalisation Committee is on the search for a permanent coach to succeed Black Stars deputy Coach Ibrahim Tanko who has performed creditably well since taking over the job, eliminating Togo and Gabon on the road to qualification for the 2019 U-23 Championship.
Tanko remains the only assistant to coach Kwesi Appiah the senior national team following the sacking of Maxwell Konadu.
The NC want Tanko to see Tanko offer his full support to Kwesi Appiah in preparing Ghana’s team for the 2019 AFCON thus a need to appoint a compete handler for the Black Meteors.
SportsworldGhana.com can confirm that Maxwell Konadu’s name was initially penciled down for the job but concerns have been raised about him with the Coach not responding positively to the NC for the job.
Tetteh, 62, has incredible international experience managing Ghana’s junior teams from U17 to U20 and winning both the African Youth Championship and FIFA U20 World Cup – first and only time won by an African country.
He has also previously managed Rwanda and Sierra Leone since leaving the Ghana U20 post and trusted to do a decent job when given the job, according the position of some members of the appointing authority.
The Ghana U23 side have eliminated Togo and Gabon on the road to qualification and have North African powerhouse Algeria to clear off in June.
