A member of the Ayew family, Sola Ayew has rubbished claims in a section of the Ghanaian nedia that the exclusion of the Ayew brothers, Andre and Jordan from the Black Stars in recent times is as aresult of witch-hunting.
Ghana trainer Kwesi Appiah, on Sunday named a 23-man squad for the AFCON 2019 qualifier double header against Sierra Leone.
Despite the return of skipper Asamoah Gyan and Alaves midfielder Mubarak Wakaso, the Ayew brothers could not make the cut yet again as has been the case in recent times.
There is widespread speculation in Ghana that Kwesi Appiah’s exclusion of the Ayew brothers is as a result of an existing friction between the two parties but Sola Ayew, an uncle to Jordan and Andre believes the Coach’s decision is purely a professional one.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Metro FM, Sola stated that, “I think it’s good because everything we do in this world is time. We all need the wellbeing of the national team so if the manager thinks he won’t need them (the Ayew Brothers) and still the team will perform it’s good”
He added that, “The handlers of the national teams think they don’t need their services for now but I don’t think they are been discriminated.
“I spoke to them this morning and they are okay,they are performing good in their teams so they are okay.
“If someone have a problem and is not willing to speak you won’t know there is a problem so I think there is no problem.

“We all want to see the national team perform so if their exclusion will help the welbeing of the team we think it’s okay”
Sola Ayew also disclosed that majority of Ghana’s Northern population don’t seem to understand why the Ayew brothers are not invited for National Team duties despite their relative good form at club level.
“We get calls from all over the world including my Northern brothers because people don’t understand so they want me to explain things to them because they don’t want to believe it’s because of them being Northerners”, He said, adding that, “We are into football not into politics so we don’t want people to believe it’s because of the NPP era that’s the reason behind their exclusion from the National Team.

“Abedi pele don’t want to believe his family members or sons are hated but his advice to them always is to prove your critics wrong”, Sola concluded.
Ghana will host Sierra Leone on Thursday October 11, 2018 at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi before traveling to Freetown for the return leg on Monday October 15.
